Optimization of Turning Parameters of Cryogenic Soaked AZ91 Magnesium Alloy using TOPSIS coupled Taguchi Technique

Magnesium alloys is a lightweight material establishing scope in various fields such as aerospace and automobile. Moreover, magnesium are also considered hydrogen storage materials. In order to understand the machining behaviour of alloy detail research planned. this turning experiments conducted on AZ91 using L9 orthogonal array (OA) experimental design. Technique for Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) coupled with Taguchi Analysis Variance (ANOVA) methods used analysis experiments. The influence cryogenic soaking duration, feed, speed depth cut cutting temperature, surface roughness force were studied. Based TOPSIS optimal combination better response time 30 min, 500 rpm, feed 40 mm/min 0.3mm. As per F value shows 0.4822 next best factors rate. chip reveals that duration level 60 min found reduce self-ignited chips.
